I recently finished reading “Chain of Gold” by Cassandra Clare and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
The novel follows the story of Cordelia Carstairs, a young Shadowhunter living in London in the early 1900s. Cordelia is struggling to find her place in the world as she tries to live up to the expectations of her family and the Shadowhunters. But when a series of mysterious murders start occurring in the city, Cordelia finds herself at the center of the investigation and must confront her own demons along the way.
One of the things I loved about “Chain of Gold” was the rich, immersive world-building. Clare does an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere and culture of turn-of-the-century London, and the intricate details of the Shadowhunter world only added to the depth of the story. The characters were also well-developed and relatable, with complex motivations and relationships that kept me invested in their journey.
The plot was engaging and kept me guessing until the very end, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. The action scenes were also well-written and thrilling, making for a fast-paced and enjoyable read.
Overall, I highly recommend “Chain of Gold” to fans of Cassandra Clare’s previous works or those looking for a compelling urban fantasy novel. It’s a great start to what promises to be an exciting new series.
